Old Stone Oven was a speculative exercise featuring a small, local, yet well-established brand of flour. The kind of brand your family will have seen on local supermarket shelves for generations, but only within your local state/region.

The Idea of the design of the Old Stone Oven was created around this small yet established history, being packaged in a new and modern look to keep up with the modern market so it may continue to serve the community for many more generations to come

Skills: Adobe Photoshop / Adobe Dimension / Adobe Illustrator / Adobe InDesign

Work Process

Part of the Old Stone Oven's Design process was figuring out where I wanted the design. As a company who is older I wanted to start with something older looking, but as I went on I started really leaning into the theme of "Something old packaged in something new" so the logo became simplified while still carrying the wheat motif.

If I had wanted to truly go modern minimalist I would've removed the wheat pattern surrounding the "seal" logo but I felt like keeping a "seal" type logo while simplifying it down to something simple yet recognizable would do the best to tie that bit of tradition with a touch of something new.

Originally the design was going to have a bit more detail, including more patterns and motifs to fill the blank space, but most of them were put to the side to create something that would be, in the end, more iconic, craft looking and recognizable.

If this project were to become something more expansive, these would likely come back as parts as the background for ads or a website. Nothing with as high contrast as the black and white versions seen here, but just enough to add flavor to a simple design.
